After being found guilty of 11 felony child sex offenses, a self-described “drag mom” and former instructional assistant at an elementary school in Oregon will be sentenced to less than a year of prison time. What are the kids and their parents supposed to think about that?
According to KDRV-TV, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force last year accusing Kelsey Meta Boren of posting child porn to the internet.
And the UN just proposed legal guidelines for member nations telling them that adults having sex with children is okay.
During a search warrant execution at Boren’s house, police discovered “evidence indicating that Boren has utilized the internet on numerous occasions to distribute and exchange pornographic images of children.”
According to KPIC, “They also say they found evidence that showed she had engaged in creating child pornography and uploaded it to the internet.”
Boren, a 31-year-old Veneta Elementary School instructional assistant, was arrested in August 2022.

Boren pleaded guilty to 11 counts of first-degree promoting child sexual abuse on March 23. Boren was sentenced in Lane County Circuit Court to 330 days in jail, 30 days for each offense. A charge of utilizing a child in a sexually explicit display was dropped.
Boren was also sentenced to five years probation, restricted from contacting anybody under the age of 18 without the consent of her probation officer, barred from contacting the victim, and ordered to register as a sex offender, according to court documents.
Boren routinely uploaded images on social media of herself with an 11-year-old kid named Vanellope MacPherson DuPont, who is also a child drag artist. Boren reportedly referred to herself in social media posts as the child’s “drag mom.”
Boren attended a drag queen event at Old Nick’s Pub in Eugene, Oregon, two months after her arrest, which featured a Vanellope MacPherson DuPont. The bar is Satan and pagan themed, and it routinely features drag queen concerts, drag queen story hour, and “fetish nights.”
The event was advertised by the pub using a child drag act.
“Vanellope is here to show you what an 11-year-old drag queen can do,” said a Facebook post on the bar’s page. “With all the charm and sweetness of a bowl of sugary cereal, Vanellope is here to brighten up your morning with all her drag talent.”
The event in October 2022 sparked a fierce outcry, prompting approximately 200 individuals to either protest or support the drag show with a child. Vanellope apparently did not perform on that particular day.
Boren’s family issued a statement in which they distanced themselves from him. According to them, Vanellope met with Boren “maybe four or five times,” and the relationship was entirely “professional.”
“Meta Boren was not a family friend, nor was she ever a mentor for V in the drag world,” the family noted. “They, also, have not had any contact since before covid, and all ties have been severed as of the time of Meta Boren’s arrest in August.”
