JD Vance had a nice moment today when he responded to a New York Times reporter’s query regarding inflation, which stated that inflation has been below 3% since mid-2021.
The audience booed, and Vance proceeded to educate the reporter on what the inflation statistic actually means, pointing out that inflation is not falling, but rather declining. And grocery prices are still 30% higher than they were when Trump was president.
JD Vance TORCHES a Fake News NYT reporter: "When they say that inflation is down, they mean from a baseline where groceries are already 30% more expensive than they were when Donald Trump was president… That is not a record to brag on, that's a record to be ASHAMED OF." pic.twitter.com/0xcFMchtsq

The truth of inflation is that it is cumulative. For example, if you had 8% inflation last year, and this year inflation is at 3%, you can’t say you have 3% inflation. You have 11% inflation. The things that are in the stores now were manufactured under 8% inflation. Just because inflation is now at 3%, doesn’t mean the stores have to bring the cost down to match that. They would lose money. Apparently, you can’t explain that to a liberal media reporter.

The truth is, that lowering inflation does not lower prices.
