The White House expressed hope on Friday after Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) announced her intention to leave the Democratic Party and register as an Independent.
In a statement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre referred to Sinema as a “key partner,” citing past bills she worked on with President Joe Biden.
KJP doesn’t understand that Sinema just screwed the party over. And it’s not like there’s any lost love there. They only tolerated her for her votes in the Senate. She gave in to them on most votes, but on very critical bills, they found that she didn’t support them. That’s because it would have cost her the seat in her next election, and there is always the possibility that she really does like America better than they do.
Jean-Pierre further stated that Sinema’s choice to register as an Independent will have no effect on Democratic Senate dominance. And that is yet another lie by KJP. While it will be 50-50 and Sinema will probably caucus with the Marxists, the fact that it will be 50-50 now means that there will be more Republicans on committees.
“We have every reason to expect that we will continue to work successfully with her,” KJP said. Right.
Sinema startled Democrats on Friday by announcing her resignation from the Democratic Party.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL“I know some people might be a little bit surprised by this, but, actually, I think it makes a lot of sense,” she remarked in an interview with CNN’s Very Jake Tapper. “A growing number of Arizonans and people like me just don’t feel like we fit neatly into one party’s box or the other.”

Despite his frustration that every Democrat senator basically had the power of a president by making demands to meet the majority needed to pass crucial legislation, Biden has worked with Sinema.
Maybe if the party faithful didn’t chase her down in a women’s public bathroom to berate her because she voted her conscience, she would feel more like the party gives a rat’s behind about her.
“When you have 50 senators, everyone is a President. Everyone can make a judgment on what they want to do or not do and — and they can block whatever is coming up,” Biden said at a fundraiser in Massachusetts last week.
Despite the fact that Sinema did not accompany Biden as he pushed subsidized semiconductor chip production in Arizona on Tuesday, the president complimented her as “a tremendous advocate for the people of Arizona and a leader in so many issues important to this state” during his speech.
Now I think the Republicans need to start courting senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and get him to leave the party as well. And in Manchin’s case, after he screwed over West Virginia coal workers and didn’t even get the bill that the Democrats promised him if he voted for the Inflation Reduction Act, his only chance of being reelected will be if he becomes a Republican. He will never be reelected as an Independent after what he did. If Manchin were to leave the Democratic Party now and register as a Republican, he would be reelected just because he would give the majority over to the Republicans.
It’s going to be an interesting year.
