On Tuesday, former Vice President Mike Pence said that President Joe Biden disregarded the cease-fire deal that his predecessor, former President Donald Trump, made with the Taliban back in February 2020, setting the stage for what Pence called “a foreign-policy humiliation unlike anything our country has endured since the Iran hostage crisis.”
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Pence said that by the time Trump left office, “the Afghan government and the Taliban each controlled their respective territories, neither was mounting major offensives, and America had only 2,500 U.S. troops in the country — the smallest military presence since the war began in 2001.”
All that went out the window thanks to the current Commander-in-Thief and his feckless administration.
The key points of the agreement included the US removing all combat forces from Afghanistan by May 1, 2021, the Taliban denying safe harbor to terror groups, the exchange of 5,000 Taliban prisoners for 1,000 Afghan security forces held prisoner by the Taliban, and the start of comprehensive peace negotiations between the Taliban and the Afghan government.
In his op-ed, Pence lauded the agreement by pointing out that in Afghanistan the US “has not suffered a single combat casualty” in eighteen months.
And then after Biden came into office back in January, Pence said he broke the Trump agreement by announcing that US forces would stay in Afghanistan beyond the May 1 deadline “without a clear reason for doing so.”

When you think about it, a lot of what Trump did to turn our country around and make it great again was to reverse many of the horrible policies of the Obama/Biden administration with common sense, conservative, America First policies. And now we see what’s happening to America after Biden has been reversing most of the policies of the former Trump administration.
“There was no plan to transport the billions of dollars worth of American equipment recently captured by the Taliban, or evacuate the thousands of Americans now scrambling to escape Kabul, or facilitate the regional resettlement of the thousands of Afghan refugees who will now be seeking asylum in the U.S. with little or no vetting,” Pence said, adding, “Rather, it seems that the president simply didn’t want to appear to be abiding by the terms of a deal negotiated by his predecessor.” Biden is a child in cognitive decline.
Pence said after Biden violated the deal reached by the Trump administration, the Taliban launched their offensive because, as he put it, “they knew there was no credible threat of force under this president.”
“Weakness arouses evil and the magnitude of evil now rising in Afghanistan speaks volumes about the weaknesses of Mr. Biden,” Pence said.
“After 20 years, more than 2,400 American deaths, 20,000 Americans wounded, and over $2 trillion spent, the American people are ready to bring our troops home,” Pence concluded. “But the manner in which Mr. Biden has executed this withdrawal is a disgrace, unworthy of the courageous American servicemen and women whose blood still stains the soil of Afghanistan.”
Now we have somewhere between 5,000 and 60,000 Americans and Afghan allies stuck in Afghanistan, with the worst people on earth ruling the country. Many can’t even travel because Taliban forces control checkpoints along the roads, something many totalitarian regimes do.
The Biden administration now refuses to give details for evacuating American citizens from the country beyond their self-imposed August 31 deadline. Remember that date, because I have zero faith that this administration will have a plan by then, less than two weeks from now, for what to do to get our people out. By all accounts, Biden didn’t care about our military equipment he left behind that the Taliban terrorists are certainly going to use, and he didn’t care about the American civilians there enough to come up with a plan to get them out first. The Trump agreement had that handled, but President House Plant Biden wanted to stick his thumb in Trump’s eye and our whole nation is now feeling it.
