Following the revelation of security footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the United States Capitol, conservative members of Congress are asking for inquiries into the House January 6 Committee and the lawmakers who participated on the panel.
Representative Troy Nehls (R-TX), and Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) have both called for an investigation of current and past members of the now-defunct committee, calling it a “sham.”
“The J6 committee was a sham,” said Nehls on X. “I knew it then. Everyone knows it now. Let’s investigate the investigators.”
The calls for a probe came after Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) revealed plans to broadcast more than 40,000 hours of video over the next few months.
So far, the House Administration Committee has made available on its website the first batch of around 90 hours of film.
“This decision will provide millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day, rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials,” Mr. Johnson, who is a Republican from Louisiana, said.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELIn a post on X, Mr. Lee accused former GOP legislators and committee members Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger of purposely suppressing footage from the event.
“Why didn’t Liz Cheney and Adam Kizinger ever refer to any of these tapes? Maybe they never looked for them,” Lee speculated. “Maybe they never even questioned their own narrative. Maybe they were just too busy selectively leaking the text messages of Republicans they wanted to defeat.”
Senator Lee went on to ask, “Given the evidence they apparently suppressed, how much footage (and how many other records) do you think Nancy Pelosi and the J6 committee deliberately lost or destroyed?”
More footage will be published in the coming months, but not all the tapes from the Capitol attack will be made public. Approximately 5% of the footage would be suppressed because it may “involve sensitive security information related to the building architecture,” according to Speaker Johnson.
In the aftermath of the attacks on the United States Capitol, the thoroughly corrupted Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged over 1,200 people with federal crimes. Over 800 of them have pled guilty or have been convicted at trial, and approximately 700 riot participants have been sentenced, with roughly two-thirds getting prison sentences ranging from three days to 22 years.
Jacob Chansley, known as the QAnon Shaman, and one of those imprisoned for his role in the insurgency, is considering a candidacy for the seat of retiring Representative Debbie Lesko (R-AZ).
There needs to be a reckoning of everyone involved in this sham. That includes members of Congress, federal prosecutors, and federal judges. For one thing, the prosecutors and judges withheld exculpatory evidence from the defense attorneys that could have proved in court they did nothing wrong, certainly not enough to warrant prison sentences. I would like to see every member of the J6 Committee investigated and brought up on charges for pulling one of the biggest show trial scams in our nation’s history. They violated rules, withheld evidence, faked evidence, and smeared and besmirched the names and characters of many people all because they suffered from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
I want to see FBI Director Chris Wray brought up on charges if it is proven that he had FBI agents and informants planted among the protesters for the purpose of stirring up trouble which led to the riot. I want all intelligence community people involved investigated for their role in J6.
And last but not least, I want the fake news media investigated for their role in ruining the lives of innocent people who were arrested for a so-called insurrection when all they were doing was walking around the Capitol building that they pay for with their taxes.
The investigations must be done. They must be thorough, and the penalties must be harsh, because the way these people handled the January 6 protest was what allowed the federal government to become a police state. Police state tactics were being used for quite some time for sure, but the fact that they got away with covering up a stolen election by making it seem like the people who protested the 2020 election steal were the ones trying to steal the election. And they did it by abusing the powers they held as federal employees. If a reckoning does not come about, then the police state will get worse and will become a permanent fixture in America.
