By day four of L.A.’s turmoil, the city was caught in a fierce state-versus-federal showdown, partisan polls firing salvos, and a blockbuster interview that exposed just how fractured the fight over immigration enforcement really is. Democrats shirking their responsibilities and then lying about it to cover their own… tracks.
So here’s the deal: Governor Gavin Newsom marched into court, filing suit against President Trump for federalizing 2,000 National Guard troops in L.A. Newsom’s team claims the deployment was “unlawful, unethical, and a violation of the Constitution,” and that Trump skipped the collaboration step his own executive order demands. The problem is, the public doesn’t seem to be buying it—polls show Republicans leading Democrats on immigration by double digits, and more Americans approve of both Trump’s broad strategy and the neighborhood ICE searches going on in L.A.’s streets.

CNN Polls Undercut the Democratic Narrative
CNN just dropped new numbers: 54 percent give Trump high marks for his immigration handling, even after dialing into mass deportations and home-town raids. Then you’ve got three separate polls—CBS (+6 GOP), CNN (+6 GOP) and Ipsos (+19 GOP)—all pointing the same way. As one conservative commentator put it, “It’s not just that Trump is winning on the big picture; he’s winning on the particulars.”
Trump’s rating in 2017 was -21 points. Now, CNN has him at +1. Guys, that’s a 22-point turnaround. And if the people CNN polled knew the whole story, the numbers would likely skyrocket.

Then there was Mayor Karen Bass on CNN—she insisted Friday’s immigration raids were the only reason for the unrest, yet swore the protests remain “peaceful” and claimed no more Guard troops are needed.
“If immigration raids hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t have the disorder,” she said—right as video lit up with looters smashing storefronts, torching robo-taxis, and pelting officers with fireworks, cinder blocks and hammer-shards. Critics pounced, saying it proves local leaders are totally disconnected from reality.

Civics 101: Under Title 10 of the U.S. Code, the president can deploy federal troops to protect government property and personnel whenever state or local forces are overwhelmed. What he can’t do—without invoking the Insurrection Act—is use those troops for routine law enforcement or arrests. In practice, the Guard has simply stood sentry around federal buildings and ICE facilities, not going door-to-door in L.A. That reality undercuts Newsom’s lawsuit—and by the way, the president isn’t even bound by the executive order he signed; his authority to defend federal assets is baked into law.
LAPD Chief Michel Moore confirmed what Trump backers have been saying: “They’re shooting commercial-grade fireworks at our officers, throwing rocks and hammers, even arson,” he reported.

Conversely, California Rep. Maxine Waters brushed it off on CNN, saying, “There have been no threats, no violence, no shootings.”
That kind of denial only fans the flames of distrust.

Amid swirling court filings, volatile polls and social-media firestorms—and with more raids possibly on the way—you face a stark choice: side with the administration that’s upholding our immigration laws, protecting federal property and standing by ICE agents under attack, or swallow the Democrats’ line that it’s all a reckless federal power grab—even as local police buckle under an onslaught of criminal illegal aliens.
