Reps Jim Jordan and James Comer have sent a letter to Hunter Biden’s liar for hire Abbe D Lowell, advising him that if Hunter Biden does not come in for a closed door deposition, he will be held in contempt of Congress. They have also subpoenaed James Biden, brother of Joe Biden. Since the House has all of their personal and business banking records they may very well not show up. The ultimate decider on prosecuting Hunter will be the corrupt Merrick Garland.
But, you should know that this is a nothing burger. Even if Hunter refuses to show and is found guilty, assuming the corrupt Merrick Garland does file charges (He won’t) and Hunter is convicted there are no consequences for Hunter Biden. He would walk out of court with nothing to hurt him. Criminal contempt of congress is a misdemeanor federal offense for individuals who do not comply with subpoenas. A move without direct legal consequences for the person deciding not to comply with a subpoena.

Comer and Jordan are leading the House GOP’s impeachment inquiry into Hunter Biden alongside Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith. All three rejected Hunter’s request for a open hearing instead of a deposition for which the rules would prevent them from answering questions since the rules for a deposition are much looser than giving testimony in public.
In May, Comer threatened to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt when the Oversight Committee sought to view an FBI FD-1023 document containing bribery allegations against Joe Biden and his son. Members of the Oversight Committee were granted permission to view the FBI document in June. Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley released the FD-1023 form in July after receiving it from Department of Justice (DOJ) whistleblowers. House lawmakers are also seeking testimony from Hunter Biden’s uncle James Biden and multiple former business associates of the first son.
James Biden was expected to appear for a deposition Wednesday in compliance with a subpoena from the Oversight Committee. His deposition has been delayed and it’s unclear when he will show up for the interview, the New York Post reported.
The Oversight Committee is communicating with James Biden’s attorney, a spokesperson told the outlet. Paul Fishman, Biden’s attorney, told the outlet the conversations are taking place without saying whether his client will comply with the subpoena.
Special counsel David Weiss reportedly subpoenaed James Biden as part of the ongoing DOJ criminal investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes and firearms possession.
Hunter and James Biden’s personal and business bank records were subpoenaed by the Oversight Committee in September after the first impeachment inquiry hearing.
House Republicans are currently weighing a floor vote to strengthen the legal authority of the impeachment inquiry by formally authorizing it.
Hunter Biden was indicted in November on three federal gun charges, to which he has plead not guilty.
