Top Democratic Party leaders are calling for a federal investigation into the expulsion of two Tennessee legislators, even though the federal government has absolutely no jurisdiction to do so. The state of Tennessee has sovereignty in the manner of dealing with its internal workings of government. In Federalist 45, James Madison clearly pointed out the powers of the federal government and the powers of the states. But that’s never stopped the likes of authoritarian Democrats in the past.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) have asked the Department of Justice to look into the expulsions of Tennessee state Representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson.
Pearson and Jones, along with Democrat Representative Gloria Johnson, urged their colleagues to take action against gun violence last month by storming the state House floor.
Don’t forget that Schumer, Warnock, and every other DC Democrat spent over 2 years virtue signaling the nation about the supposed insurrection at the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021, even though the protest that day, by all standards, including their own, was a mostly peaceful protest.
So, the message the Senate Majority Leader is sending is it’s not okay for Republicans and conservatives to protest at a Capitol building, but it’s perfectly legitimate for Democrats to do so.
Republicans ousted Pearson and Jones from the House as a result of their actions. The Republicans held a vote to expel the two lawmakers from the body because of their direct actions. The entire process was democratic. The DC Democrats just didn’t like the outcome.

In response to the expulsions, Schumer and Warnock have asked the thoroughly corrupted Attorney General Merrick Garland to “take all steps necessary to uphold the democratic integrity of our nation’s legislative bodies.” And they violated the sovereignty of the nation’s legislative bodies by doing so.
The Democrats have given up on democracy and due process and the rule of law. Schumer and Warnock’s actions here have confirmed that because the federal government has no business sticking its nose into the internal affairs of a state. The two Democrats who were ousted broke the rules and paid the consequences.
Besides, both unruly insurrectionists have since been returned to their seats.
The Democratic lawmakers protested after a transgender shooter killed six people, three of whom were 9-year-old children, at a private Christian school in Nashville called The Covenant School.
In their letter to Garland, Schumer, and Warnock said, “We do not believe that breaking decorum is alone sufficient cause for employing the most draconian of consequences to duly-elected lawmakers.” And that’s just too bad because the legislature in Tennessee did think it was an appropriate move to send the message that lawmakers must live by a higher standard when it comes to an insurrection.
Do you remember when DC Democrats desperately tried to include DC Republican lawmakers in the two-and-a-half-hour riot that took place on January 6, 2021? Of course, they didn’t succeed, but they certainly tried. Well, in Tennessee we actually saw two Democrat lawmakers participate in an insurrection inside the legislature building.
The letter went on. “This is un-democratic, un-American, and unacceptable, and the U.S. Department of Justice should investigate whether it was also unlawful or unconstitutional.”
What is un-democratic, un-American, and unacceptable is DC Democrats, the majority leader of the US Senate no less, trying to sick the US Department of Justice on a state legislature because they are Republicans who followed the rules when Democrats did not.
Here is what Madison, among other things, wrote in Federalist 45:
The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.
The operations of the federal government will be most extensive and important in times of war and danger; those of the State governments, in times of peace and security. As the former periods will probably bear a small proportion to the latter, the State governments will here enjoy another advantage over the federal government. The more adequate, indeed, the federal powers may be rendered to the national defense, the less frequent will be those scenes of danger which might favor their ascendancy over the governments of the particular States.

Notice how Madison says that the powers of the federal government are few and defined, while every other power will go to the States and are numerous and indefinite.
He even got into examples of each. For example, he says “The former will be exercised principally on external objects,” which means that the federal government will only deal with nationhood issues. Madison goes on to give examples of this such as “war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce.” These are issues of nationhood that the Founders didn’t want the States to be fighting over.
Madison continues and mentions the issues that the States will handle, being “all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.” That means EVERYTHING that is not specifically enumerated (that means numbered for those of you who claim to be liberals) as powers of the federal government which are found in Article I, Section 8.
James Madison would be ashamed of Chuck Schumer and Raphael Warnock and would consider them enemies of the nation.
It is undeniable that the Democratic Party has become a national body that believes in the rule of law, holding people accountable, and delivering justice for one’s actions, so long as the targets are Republicans and not Democrats. This is their most blatant hypocrisy yet.
