If what the Department of Defense (DOD) told members of Congress during the briefing on the Chinese spy balloon is true, Gen Mattis should be arrested immediately and tried for treason. He should then spend the rest of his life in a maximum-security prison. Rep. Waltz says that the DOD said Chinese balloons traveled over Texas and Florida during the Trump years, but that Gen Mattis refused to tell the president because he didn’t like what Trump would have done.
Pardon me if I am wrong, but I think voters chose Trump to make those decisions and I am pretty sure Mattis was not even on the ballot. Mattis committed several crimes associated with treason. He allowed a hostile foreign country to spy on us right here on our own soil. He gave aid and comfort to the enemy. He hid this from his superiors, including the President of the United States, while making the country less safe.
Mattis must have been reading the NY Times. Big mistake. Let’s hope this man faces justice.

We have more detailed questions but what is unclear, Stuart, at this point is, did the Pentagon under the Trump Administration brief the Trump White House and give them the option to take action or did they decide not to brief them for whatever reason? And there is some speculation, I talked to Trump administration officials over the weekend, that the Pentagon deliberately did it because they thought Trump would be too provocative and too aggressive. So that’s what we need to get to the bottom of and one person that I’m waiting to hear from that we haven’t heard from that list is former Secretary of Defense, General Mattis who was the secretary during this time period. What did he know and what did he decide to pass on and brief to the president.

Rep. Mike Waltz of Florida, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee, offered an explanation for the differing tales, saying that his office had been briefed on the details and that it had happened over Florida, Texas and elsewhere.
‘We have more detailed questions but what’s unclear … and this is the key point: Did the Pentagon under the Trump administration brief the Trump White House and give them the option to take action, or did they decide not to brief them for whatever reason,’ he said.
‘And there’s some speculation — I’ve talked to Trump White House officials over the weekend — that the Pentagon deliberately did it because they thought Trump would be too provocative and too aggressive.’
He said questions needed to be answered by the general who spent two years as Trump’s secretary of defense.
‘One person I’m waiting to hear from, that we haven’t heard from in that whole list, is former Secretary of Defense Gen. Mattis, who was the secretary during this time period,’ he said.
‘What did he know and what did he decide to pass on and brief to the president?’
Mattis was Trump’s first secretary of defense before resigning in protest at the decision to withdraw American troops from Syria.
