Vice President Kamala Harris was born “mentally impaired,” former President Donald Trump claimed Saturday at a rally in Wisconsin. With his signature flair for drama, Trump used the jab to take a swipe at his political opponent and highlight what he describes as the nation’s “managed decline.”
“Joe Biden became mentally impaired. Kamala was born that way,” Trump said, drawing loud applause from the crowd. He went on to add, “And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country.” Yikes.
Trump didn’t stop there. He piled on, blaming Harris for everything from skyrocketing prices to the chaos at the southern border, and even calling out her role in some of the biggest foreign policy blunders like the Afghan withdrawal and the ongoing mess with Russia and Ukraine.

To add fuel to the fire, President Joe Biden himself admitted Wednesday that he’s handed over “everything” as commander-in-chief to Harris—including both foreign and domestic policy. Critics argue this delegation is proof that Harris is nothing more than an empty political shell, willing to say or do whatever it takes to get elected, even if it means selling out the very people who pay taxes and fight in wars. Ouch.
And it seems like the numbers back this up. According to a recent Economist/YouGov poll, a whopping 48% of Americans think Harris just says what she thinks people want to hear, while only 36% believe she’s genuinely speaking from the heart. Those aren’t exactly stellar stats for someone holding such a high office.
Harris has struggled to gain popularity throughout her tenure as vice president. She had the lowest net negative rating for a vice president in U.S. history at -17% before she even joined the race. And earlier this year, her approval rating was a meager 28% in January 2024. Even with some media help, her approval has only inched up to 32% in July, when Biden stepped aside. Fast forward to now, and Harris’s approval rating has jumped to 48%—an increase of 16 points in just two months.
