Former President Donald Trump‘s lawyer and spokeswoman gave away some free legal advice to writer E. Jean Carroll after a jury awarded her a whopping $84.3 million settlement in a defamation trial earlier this month: don’t spend the money just yet.
During an interview with Eric Bolling on Newsmax TV, Alina Habba slammed Carroll for promising to buy MSNBC conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow a penthouse apartment and new clothes after a jury judgment.
“It was like being in an epic Twilight Zone where no rules were allowed but for the other side, and then she goes out there and gloats and says she’s going to buy France, a wardrobe, a motorcycle, and this and that. I want everyone to remember, and I said this in my closing argument to the jury: She’s here to get a check, and after this, she will continue. She didn’t care, you know, about the defamation. She didn’t. She cared about the publicity,” Habba stated.
“On appeal, those rulings will come up, the one-sidedness will come up, and we will prevail,” Habba foretold before going on to say, “My advice to her would be not to go ahead and purchase any motorcycles or penthouse apartments.”

During her appearance with Maddow, Carroll was questioned about prior statements hinting that any donations she received from Trump would be used expressly to “help shore up women’s rights.”
Carol responded, “Yes, Rachel!” She added, “I had such great ideas for all the good I’m going to do with this money.”
“First thing, Rachel, you and I are going shopping!” she said. “We’re going to get complete new wardrobes, new shoes, motorcycle for [Carroll’s attorney, Shawn] Crowley, and a new fishing rod for Robbie [Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan] — Rachel, what do you want? A penthouse? It’s yours, Rachel! Penthouse in France? You want France? You want to go fishing in France? No?”
As Maddow laughed at Carroll’s statements, Carroll’s attorney intervened and stated, “That’s a joke.”
The video went viral as many people claimed that her words undermined her credibility.
