Tucker Carlson has placed Rupert Murdoch on notice and obtained a high-powered lawyer after Fox News surprised the nation by abruptly firing the highest-rated host on cable news.
According to several media reports, Carlson has gone and hired Bryan Freedman.
Carlson was earning roughly $20 million per year until he was fired on Monday.
Freedman specializes in media disputes and has gotten large settlements for his previous clients.
Carlson was still under contract when Murdoch fired him, and he will be entitled to the entire amount paid out to him.
Mariah Carey, Robert Downey Jr., Vin Diesel, Quentin Tarantino, & Julia Roberts, are among Freedman’s high-profile clients.

Chris Cuomo used Freedman to represent him in his wrongful termination lawsuit against CNN. He’s looking for $125 million in damage.
CNN’s Don Sour Lemon was also fired on Monday, and he has hired Freeman as well.
Lemon’s departure from CNN had already turned sour, with the network publicly contradicting Lemon’s remarks on his firing.
Monday night, Fox News tried to move on from Carlson’s firing by barely mentioning him. Brian Kilmeade filled in the time slot and he mentioned Tucker and said that he was a close friend.
“As you’ve probably heard, Fox News and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” Kilmeade explained. “I wish Tucker the best of luck,” adding, “I’ll always be good friends with Tucker.” Kilmeade concluded, “But, right now, it’s time for ‘Fox News Tonight,’ so let’s get started.”

Tucker could do a podcast tomorrow and many people in the industry would kill to be on that team. Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly did that and they’re doing fine. Tucker is a one-in-a-million guy. Not many people in the news industry actually make news. When Tucker talks about something, he’s usually exposing a topic that should be exposed, but no one else in the industry wants to go there. I’m pretty sure the main point of hiring Freedman is to get out of whatever type of NDA he has going on with Fox. That’s probably why they’re paying him his contract salary, to keep him quiet and off the air. I for one, cannot wait to see what Carlson does next.
