The Ukrainian government has asserted that they were not responsible for the attack that destroyed a section of the Russian-German Nord Stream gas pipelines.
Ukrainian government officials have insisted that their country is not guilty of any wrongdoing, following a New York Times report linking the country to the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines connecting Russia and Germany.
The Nord Stream 1 pipeline had been a vital lifeline for Germany’s energy situation until it was severely damaged in last year’s attack. So far, formal investigations have determined that it was the victim of sabotage, but no one has been identified as the perpetrator.
This week, however, the New York Times reported that it had received information from unidentified U.S. security sources linking the incident to a “pro-Ukrainian group,” with German media saying that the attack was carried out by a ship supposedly owned by two Ukrainian businessmen.
According to a report by Die Zeit, this boat was chartered by people of unknown nationality, and it departed from a Polish port for the attack, which reportedly entailed a team of six people planting explosives on an undersea pipeline.
Because of the alleged usage of fraudulent passports throughout the operation, the nationality of those involved in the attack remains unknown, though American officials believe they were either Russian, Ukrainian, or a combination of the two. I believe it was the Biden regime. Joe Biden as much as said it when responding to a reporter asking how Joe would end the pipeline if Putin invaded Ukraine. Antony Blinken’s behavior after the bombing was bizarre, and another administration official, Victoria Nuland, also said it would be done.
VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNELUkraine has now categorically denied any involvement in the attack, with presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak comparing the reports to “conspiracy theories,” while the state’s defense minister has also denied any involvement.
Western allies have also been eager to refute allegations that Ukraine was behind the attack.
Multiple officials in the German government have dismissed suggestions that their infrastructure was targeted by an ally, with Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock urging people not to “jump to conclusions” about the incident.
Russian officials have defended their Ukrainian opponents, calling reports linking Ukraine to the pipeline destruction by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh who said it was the US, a “coordinated fake news media campaign.”
“Obviously, the authors of the attack want to divert attention,” government spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Russian media, adding that it was odd that U.S. officials behind the New York Times could link anyone to the attack while a comprehensive investigation into the incident has not yet been completed.
“The very least that the Nord Stream shareholder countries and the United Nations must demand is an urgent, transparent investigation with the participation of everyone who can shed light,” the Russian official added that Russia’s exclusion from the probe into the event was unacceptable.
“We are still not allowed in the investigation,” he said. “This is not just strange. It smells like a monstrous crime.”
