On Thursday, White House principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that President Joe Biden is “perfectly comfortable” with the Department of Justice (DOJ) settling monetarily with illegal migrant families separated at the border under the prior administration a day after Biden said no such thing was going on and said any reporting on the idea was “garbage.”
Biden’s handlers to the rescue.
“If it saves taxpayer dollars and puts the disastrous history of the previous administration’s use of zero tolerance and family separation behind us, the president is perfectly comfortable with the Department of Justice settling with the individuals and families who are currently in litigation with the U.S. government,” Jean-Pierre said after it has been reported that the administration was contemplating forking over $450,000 to each illegal migrant family that was separated at the border.
The irony here is that Joe Biden, or whoever is pulling his strings, wants to pay illegal aliens, people who came into our country illegally, because the Trump administration separated them when the Obama-Biden administration separated families as well.

So, why then did the Obama-Biden administrations separate illegal migrant children from their illegal migrant parents at the border? Because a federal judge in California ruled that the Obama administration had been violating what became known as the Flores decision, a 20-year-old case that said you must remove children from their parents if families were detained for longer than 20 days.
Flores sounds like a cruel policy, but in reality, it was done to protect the children who were put into harm’s way by their illegal migrant parents. Until Flores, children were kept with their parents. The families were among other illegal migrant adults. Illegal migrants are not virtuous simply because the Democrats consider them as “unregistered Democrats.” At any time, illegal migrant adults that the family does not know could get violent for whatever reason, and that is an unsafe environment for children.
On October 28, the Wall Street Journal published a report that cited the payments could come due to ongoing lawsuits that were filed on behalf of illegal migrant children and their parents. They estimated that the total payout could go up to $1 billion. That’s the report that Joe Biden called garbage and said it’s “not gonna happen.”
“If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah, but it’s not true,” Biden said when he was asked if the proposed settlements his handlers apparently forgot to tell him about could act as an incentive for more illegal migrants to run across our border.
“Yeah, $450,000 per person, is that what you’re saying? That’s not gonna happen.”

Jean-Pierre tried to cover up Biden’s ineptitude on the subject by claiming he wasn’t dismissing the material of the report, but the dollar amount that was mentioned.
“What he was reacting to was the dollar figure that was mentioned – as press accounts today indicate, there’s been press accounts on this, DOJ made clear to the plaintiffs that the reported figures are higher than anywhere that a settlement can land,” she said. Apparently, she didn’t want to answer questions from the press because she referred any further questions to the DOJ.
It sounded to the rest of us that Biden was arguing that the whole report was false.
The ACLU tried to give Biden a cover story. ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero said, “President Biden may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own Justice Department as it carefully deliberated and considered the crimes committed against thousands of families separated from their children as an intentional governmental policy.”
What crimes? The Trump administration followed the law. Now it’s a crime when administrations you hate follow the law?
“But if he follows through on what he said, the president is abandoning a core campaign promise to do justice for the thousands of separated families,” Romero added. “We respectfully remind President Biden that he called these actions ‘criminal’ in a debate with then-President Trump and campaigned on remedying and rectifying the lawlessness of the Trump administration. We call on President Biden to right the wrongs of this national tragedy.”
Joe Biden calling the Trump administration’s policies “criminal actions” does not make them criminal actions. Leftists hate Flores and so they are now trying to find a way to say that if an administration follows the Flores ruling, they are somehow breaking the law. That’s what the ACLU is saying and Romero should be ashamed of himself for going along with that lie.
If the Biden administration is not separating children from their parents after 20 days in detention, then they are breaking the law.
