Sheriffs in 80 Illinois counties have stated that they will not enforce the “assault weapons” prohibition signed into law by Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday.
The best part of that is a sheriff is the most powerful law enforcement person inside his/her county. We learned that after the Brady Bill was passed and a bunch of sheriffs said they would not comply and then won in court.
The “assault weapons” ban targets the most popular semiautomatic rifles and mandates owners to register them with the Illinois State Police. A gun registry is how the Nazis were able to take over the German people so quickly. They used the gun registry that the Weimar Republic created, all in the name of safety, to learn who owned firearms. The Nazis used the registry to send police out to confiscate them with severe penalties if you did not comply. Jews who did not comply immediately and turn in their weapons were arrested and then summarily executed.
After signing the law, Pritzker’s administration issued a statement. “The new law also requires existing owners of semi-automatic rifles to register their ownership, ensuring that law enforcement knows the location of these weapons of war and who to hold accountable if they fall into the wrong hands,” it said.
Years ago, they might have gotten away with this, but today, there are too many people who no longer trust their government, especially when Democrats are running things. It has become a tyrannical political party after they tasted the power that came from being able to create their own laws out of thin air to ruin people’s lives during the COVID pandemic.
Darby Boewe, the Sheriff of Edwards County, was quick to explain that he will not enforce the restriction.

Part of my duties that I accepted upon being sworn into office was to protect the rights provided to all of us, in the Constitution. One of those rights enumerated is the right of the people to KEEP and BEAR ARMS provided under the 2nd Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty and property is regarded as an inalienable right by the people.
The Second Amendment basically says that the government can’t even hold a conversation about regulating arms. Democrats have whittled away at our constitutional rights for decades. Our Founding Fathers were wise because the Second Amendment is considered the only thing that has kept our government from becoming tyrannical.
Sheriff Boewe called the restriction on semiautomatic rifles “a clear violation of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”
According to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner, 79 other Illinois sheriffs have taken a similar stance to Boewe’s and say they will not enforce the “assault weapons” ban.
Good for them!
This implies that sheriffs in 80 of Illinois’ 102 counties are saying they will not enforce Pritzker’s gun ban.
I think Pritzker just ruined his chances of running for any other office in the future. This is an incredibly unpopular law, and is typical of Democrats who want to control every aspect of your life including how you defend yourself and your family from those who wish to do you harm.
