Well, well, well—another day, another government scandal. And this one? This one’s a doozy. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has allegedly uncovered that FEMA—yes, the agency that’s supposed to be helping Americans recover from disasters—has been shoveling tens of millions of taxpayer dollars into “luxury” hotels in New York City to house illegal immigrants. Because, you know, nothing says “responsible use of funds” like putting noncitizens in five-star accommodations while Americans suffer.
Who blew the whistle on this outrageous spending? Elon Musk. The head of DOGE dropped the bombshell early Monday morning, exposing FEMA’s massive misuse of funds.
And in case anyone thought this was a minor bureaucratic blunder, Musk made it clear:
“The DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants. Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order.”
That’s $59 million—in a single week! Not for disaster relief, not for American citizens struggling after hurricanes, wildfires, or floods. No, Biden’s FEMA thought it was appropriate to funnel that money into high-end hotels for illegal immigrants. And if that wasn’t bad enough, they did it in direct violation of President Donald Trump’s executive order.
Musk isn’t having it.

Now, let’s rewind a bit. Just weeks ago, on Jan. 28, the Trump administration put the brakes on all federal financial assistance related to foreign aid, NGOs, DEI nonsense, gender ideology, and—of course—the green new deal.
The order was crystal clear:
“Temporarily pause all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all federal financial assistance, and other relevant agency activities that may be impacted by the executive orders, including, but not limited to, financial assistance for foreign aid, nongovernmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the green new deal.”
That means no more government freebies for illegal immigrants. No more funneling money into leftist pet projects. No more bureaucratic slush funds disguised as ‘assistance programs.’ But—surprise, surprise—a federal judge immediately stepped in to block the Trump administration’s freeze. Because, you know, stopping illegal government spending is just too radical for today’s courts.
Meanwhile, Trump is taking a wrecking ball to FEMA’s incompetence. On Jan. 24, he signed an executive order launching a full-scale review of FEMA, aiming to drastically improve the agency’s efficiency and hold it accountable for its spectacular failures in disaster response.
“To drastically improve the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) efficacy, priorities, and competence, including evaluating whether FEMA’s bureaucracy in disaster response ultimately harms the agency’s ability to successfully respond.”
Translation? FEMA’s bloated, useless bureaucracy is part of the problem, and Trump is here to clean house.
FEMA’s Acting Director Steps In
Acting FEMA Director Cameron Hamilton—a former Navy SEAL appointed by Trump just last month—isn’t wasting any time. After Musk’s exposé, he stepped in to shut it down immediately.
“I want to thank the [DOGE] team for making me aware of this. Effective yesterday these payments have all been suspended from FEMA. Personnel will be held accountable.”
Finally, someone in Washington with a spine. But Hamilton didn’t stop there. He pointed the finger right back at Congress for enabling this disaster in the first place.
“The U.S. Congress should never have passed laws in 2023 and 2024 asking FEMA to do this work.”
And here’s the kicker—this isn’t some random oversight. Congress actually passed legislation that practically ordered FEMA to fund this nonsense.
In 2023, lawmakers snuck the Shelter and Services Program into the Consolidated Appropriations Act, allowing FEMA to bankroll shelter and services for illegal immigrants.
Then, in 2024, Congress doubled down and threw another $650 million into the program. That’s $650 million of taxpayer dollars handed to “non-federal entities” to provide shelter and services for illegal migrants.
Well, Hamilton is putting an end to that.
“This stops now.”
Musk Calls Out Biden’s Lies
But wait—it gets worse. Musk didn’t just expose the FEMA scandal—he called out Biden’s entire administration for lying about it.
“Yes, that was a huge lie by the Biden administration. Funds were diverted from almost every part of the federal government to maximize the number of illegals in America.”
And if you thought FEMA’s budget was the only victim of Biden’s pro-illegal policies, think again. Musk revealed something even more infuriating:
“There also appear to be significant funds siphoned from Social Security to pay for illegals.”
Let that sink in. Social Security—the program Americans have paid into their entire lives—being raided to cover expenses for illegal immigrants. While seniors struggle, while veterans wait in line for care, while working Americans scrape by, the Biden administration is diverting their benefits to people who have no legal right to be here.
